Soultaurean is an independent music media brand covering funk, soul, blues, and vinyl culture. We publish original music journalism, artist and collector interviews, live reviews, and cultural deep dives for people who take this music as seriously as the people who made it.

Let’s dive deep into the catalogs of genius, innovative musicians to discover hidden gems and learn from their musical journeys and creativity. My goal for this blog is to keep the legacy of funk, blues, and soul alive and to provide a place where we can all learn, share, and connect more over the music that moves us!

Here’s what you can expect from Soultaurean:

  • In-Depth Music Highlights: A deep dive into the history of funk, soul, and blues artists who shaped the music we know and love today.
  • Interviews with Musicians & Vinyl Lovers: Exclusive conversations with musicians and collectors about their journeys, inspirations, and the music that drives them.
  • Vinyl Collection Tips: Practical guides on what to buy, where to find it, and how to build a collection that actually reflects who you are.
  • Live Event Coverage: Reviews of legendary concerts, festivals, and music events.

And so much more! I hope my blog inspires you to dive deeper into the grooves of soul music, connect with vinyl culture, and maybe even discover your next favorite artist from the past or present!

I believe music has the power to bring us together, and my hope is that Soultaurean becomes your favorite corner of the internet to discover and share timeless music.

ABOUT THE WRITER

I’m Talia — a music journalist, aspiring musician, vinyl collector, and Taurus with a penchant for timeless music!

I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, the city that gave the world Stax Records, Hi Records, Beale Street, and some of the most important music ever recorded. Al Green, Otis Redding, Johnnie Taylor, and Isaac Hayes were the soundtrack to my childhood.

Even as a kid, I noticed that the music from the past was just as good as any of the music from the present, which moved me to explore previous decades and find those timeless gems that stood out to me.

I’ve spent years diving deep into the catalogs of soul, funk, blues, and gospel’s greatest architects — not just the hits, but the deep cuts, the B-sides, the forgotten gems, and the stories behind the sessions. I’ve been collecting vinyl for over 10 years, building a collection that spans soul, gospel, jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, and rock & roll.

Soultaurean is where all of that research, listening, and passion lives.
